Holemaking
An industry-leading range of solid and indexable drills to meet almost every conceivable hole-making requirement. One of the most common engineering processes, our hole-making offer covers, reamers, rotary drills, countersinks and counterbores, the Hydra range of exchangeable carbide head drills and indexable carbide drills. With a choice of HSS, HSS-E and carbide substrates, geometries to suit general purpose hand-held to high-performance CNC applications, and a diameter range from 0.15mm to over 100mm, our drilling program provides hole making tools for all situations.

High Speed Steel (HSS) drill bits offer the highest strength and stability in many applications and, for this reason, are the most popular style of drill. Dormer Pramet’s vast range of HSS drill bits caters for almost every machining method and material type. This includes different lengths, shank styles, surface finishes and geometries.

Our range of solid carbide drills support maximum metal removal rates whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy - up to H8 hole tolerance. Capable of performing at accelerated cutting data, our program supports drilling depths up to 8xD, including solid and coolant feed variants with designs, geometries and coatings to maximise cost-per-hole efficiencies.

Combining high precision with versatility, our Hydra drills are the ideal solution for series production with short stoppages, as the drill head can be swapped easily. The Hydra’s hardened steel drill bodies are made for 1.5D, 3xD, 5xD, 8xD and 12xD depths. The carbide heads are available in diameters from 11.91 to 42 mm. The heads are available in three versions; for steel, stainless steel and cast iron.

When larger holes - above 15 mm diameter - are required, indexable drilling represents the most efficient and economical solution. We offer carbide inserts with 4 cutting edges carried by a tool steel drill body and the Hydra range of replaceable carbide head drills. Both options provide an optimum mix of strength, performance and economy.

Dormer Pramet offers a wide range of boring heads, both roughing tools and finishing tools, for producing diameters from 8 mm to 500 mm. Tool shanks and extenders are also available, of course, in addition to the boring heads. Moreover, all these tools are available in complete sets.
