Our Commitment to Global Parental Leave
2026-07-22
At Dormer Pramet, certainty at every turn doesn’t just refer to the tools we engineer; it’s also about how we care for our people. As part of the Sandvik Group, we’re proud to stand behind a global parental leave policy that’s showcasing what support looks like for working families around the world. This policy has reached its two-year milestone this year and has been rolled out globally to make a difference for parents worldwide.
Setting a global standard for family support
Our gender-neutral parental leave policy provides 14 weeks of paid leave at 90% of base salary to all eligible employees, regardless of gender, family structure, or geography, where no better local policy already exists. It’s a global baseline that reflects our commitment to fairness, equality and inclusion.
For new parents, whether welcoming a child through birth, adoption or surrogacy, this means having the time, support and security they need to focus on what matters most: their growing families.
A policy built on equity
Through this policy, Dormer Pramet, is driving meaningful change for our employees. Ryan Mills is a Sales Engineer in the US and recently shared his story with us:
“My daughter was born with a VSD and ASD, which wouldn’t allow her to eat on her own. She spent 1 month in NICU. Once she came home, she required multiple medications and tube feedings at all times of the day and night. The generous parental leave from Dormer Pramet allowed me to care for my wife and daughter when they needed me most.”
This isn’t just a corporate initiative. It’s already changing lives, allowing families to have time together regardless of their gender, medical needs or family structure.
By including both full-time and part-time employees with 12 months of service, this policy helps normalise shared parenting and supports work-life balance.
It also supports our broader strategic focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, recognising that to build better workplaces, we need to create space for people to thrive at home as well as at work.
The programme is now fully implemented across more than 20 countries. From Canada to Croatia, our teams are already benefiting from a benefit that brings clarity, certainty and care.
